Learning Centre
“Independent learning” is becoming increasingly important nowadays – especially with regard to the expanding numbers of lessons in the afternoon due to which students need more opportunities to work -under provision of the necessary materials- in their private study periods and breaks in a quiet atmosphere.
To ensure this, an “Independent Learning Centre”(“Selbstlernzentrum” or in short “SLZ”) has been installed at the Gymnasium Verl, in which all pupils can work on their own without the direct assistance of a teacher. Besides the possibility of accessing the internet they also can use reference literatures like lexica, dictionaries and the computer software of established education kits. The SLZ is supposed to offer students the chance to revise and prepare for exams and presentations, to do a research for their coursework and moreover to catch up subject matters of missed lessons.
Currently the school is rebuilt, so the Learning Centre has been postponed. After completing the rebuilding the Centre will be refurbished.
The project was realised thanks to the organisation of Mrs Kloß and Mrs Liedtke and Mr Stengel’s contact to HP, which sponsored the necessary computers and monitors.
